Atom

July 21, 2017

Panopticons is a series of hilltop sculptures in Lancashire commissioned by Mid Pennine Arts. There are four: the Atom in Pendle, the Singing Ringing Tree near Burnley, the Halo is Haslingden, and Colourfields in Blackburn.

This aerial photograph shows the Atom at Wycoller Country Park in Pendle. The structure offers a contemporary shelter from which to view the park. It was designed by Peter Meacock, Andrew Edmunds and Katarina Novomestska of Peter Meacock Projects.
